HTC Rolls out Smartphone Model for Metaverse

Beijing, June 28 (TMTPOST) – Taiwan-based virtual reality (VR) hardware and former smartphone giant HTC launched its smartphone model for the metaverse, HTC Desire 22 Pro, on Tuesday, which was priced at 2,700.
HTC was once a top Android smartphone brand in the global market. The company launched the world’s first Android smartphone G1 in September 2008. HTC later also started making smartphones running Windows Phone operating system.
The company later gradually lost its edge due to problematic business strategies and the rise of other smartphone brands. After losing its advantages in the smartphone market, HTC shifted its focus to its VR business.
The HTC Desire 22 Pro, which is positioned as a smartphone for the metaverse by HTC, is installed with the VIVERSE metaverse platform and VIVE Wallet. Users can transfer their virtual assets to VIVE Wallet, which will be used as a pass for entering VIVERSE.
In addition, HTC Desire 22 Pro can be connected to HTC’s VR glasses VIVE Flow which displays content from mobile applications on the smartphone through projections to the lens.
HTC Desire 22 Pro has a 6.6-inch display with a resolution of 2412×1080 and refresh rate of 120Hz. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 SoC and has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone model has a 4520mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.
The smartphone model has a 32 megapixel front camerate. At its back, there is a trio-camera system with a 64 megapixel main camera, 13 megapixel ultrawide lens and 500 megapixel depth camera.
HTC Desire 22 Pro also has a 3.5mm headphone jack. It supports dual sim cards (5G+4G) and runs on Android 12.
The new smartphone model is scheduled to enter the market on July 1.
