(Background)
Soil micro-food web consisting of belowground microorganisms, protozoa and nematodes plays key roles in underpinning ecosystem functions such as carbon and nitrogen cycling and in delivering ecosystem services including food security and climate mitigation. During the 2022 BRICS conference, the five BRICS countries of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa have together focused on sustainable development in agriculture. In view of the important roles of soil micro-food web in maintaining agricultural production, mitigating climate, cleaning soil, and inhibiting soil-borne disease, we organize this special issue to focus on the latest advances in soil micro-food web from BRICS countries, aiming to promote BRICS scholarly communications, to share the relevant research achievements with the world, and to guide sustainable soil micro-food web management.
