Cover Story 
Electrochemical conversion of CO2 into value-added chemicals and fuels is of great importance to relieve the growing CO2 emission and achieve the carbon neutrality. Heterojunction catalysts can boost the electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) by facilitating the charge transfer, but their rational construction still remains a great challenge. Liu and coworkers fabricated a Bi2O2CO3/ZnO heterojunction electrocatalyst by a hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide-templated hydrothermal method, achieving the enhanced CO2-to-formate conversion efficiency and outstanding stability than single components. Electrochemical test combined with spectral analysis revealed that the interface charge transfer and produced compressive stress between the heterostructure synergistically contribute to the enhancement of CO2RR performance (see the article on page 1398).
