鼓楼里展示着古代所用的报时铜人，计时工具铜刻漏的水流会带动机关，进而带动小铜人敲击手中的桡来报时。
Inside the Drum Tower, there are ancient bronze figures used for timekeeping. The flow of water from bronze sundials would drive mechanisms, which, in turn, would make small bronze figures strike drums to announce the time.
在鼓楼还能看到击鼓表演，鼓手会根据季节不同敲出不同的鼓点，中央的主鼓代表一年，周围有二十四面群鼓代表二十四节气。“暮鼓晨钟”，是市民对老北京的记忆，现在还会在指定时间有擂鼓表演。
In the Drum Tower, you can also witness drumming performances. Drummers beat the drums differently according to the seasons. The central main drum represents a year, while the surrounding 24 smaller drums symbolize the 24 solar terms. "The evening drum and morning bell" is a memory of old Beijing for its residents. Even today, there are drumming performances at specified times.
