潼关县是陕西关中东大门第一县，也称天下第一关，是史上历来的兵家必争之地。东与河南省灵宝市接壤，南与商洛市洛南县毗邻。
Tongguan County is the eastern gateway of the Guanzhong region in Shaanxi, also known as the "First Pass under Heaven," and has historically been a strategic military location. It borders Lingbao City in Henan Province to the east and Luonan County in Shangluo City to the south.
潼关县境内大大小小峪口达20处之多，仅tongyu同音的峪口就有两处，即桐峪和潼峪。

今天我们要说的潼峪佛头崖，位于今潼关县以南10公里的安乐乡松果山上，因其形似佛头而得名，天气好时，在山脚下远远就能看见佛头，它是秦岭在潼关境内最高的山峰。《潼关县新志》称“关南名胜，无逾此者。”
Today we are talking about the Buddha's Head Cliff in Tong Valley, located on the Songguo Mountain of the Anle Township, 10 kilometers south of the county seat of Tongguan. It is named for its resemblance to a Buddha's head, and on a clear day, one can see the Buddha's head from the foot of the mountain. It is the highest peak of the Qinling Mountains within the territory of Tongguan. The "New Chronicles of Tongguan County" states, "There is no more famous scenic spot in the south of the pass."
佛头崖山势峻峭，直若刀劈。崖上树木挺拔、郁郁葱葱。山径蜿蜒曲折，俗称“十八盘”，人行其上，若步云梯。
The Buddha's Head Cliff has a steep terrain, as if cut by a knife. The trees on the cliff are tall and lush. The mountain path winds and twists, commonly known as the "Eighteen Bends," and walking on it feels like stepping on a ladder to the clouds.
佛头崖有唐贞观十年（公元636年）兴建的菩萨庙一座，正殿五间，僧舍十间。庙院依山临壑，风景秀丽。庙前古树参天，松柏掩映。庙后悬崖陡壁，直插云霄。
There is a Bodhisattva Temple built in the tenth year of the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty (636 AD) on the Buddha's Head Cliff, with five main halls and ten monks' rooms. The temple complex is built against the mountain and overlooking the ravine, with beautiful scenery.In front of the temple, there are towering ancient trees with pine and cypress trees. Behind the temple, there are steep cliffs that soar into the clouds.
远眺山处，田陌村舍，滔滔黄渭，尽收眼底，令人心旷神怡。库院近处有两处水潭：黑龙潭阴森可畏；黄龙潭澄澈见底。二潭清洌甘美，饮之可口，引得游人流连忘返。
Looking into the distance, the fields and villages, the surging Yellow River and the Wei River, are all in sight, which is refreshing and pleasant. There are two ponds near the temple: the Black Dragon Pond is dark and awe-inspiring; the Yellow Dragon Pond is clear and bottomless. The two ponds are clear and sweet, and drinking them is delicious, attracting tourists to linger and forget .
佛头崖海拔高达1806米，对潼关的气候有一定影响。农谚说：“云覆顶则雨”（《潼关卫志》）。解放前，每遇久旱，农村群众多至此拜佛求雨，每年农历六月初十，佛头崖庙会，香客游从，络绎不绝。
The Buddha's Head Cliff has an altitude of up to 1806 meters, which has a certain impact on the climate of Tongguan. The agricultural proverb says, "When the cloud covers the top, it will rain" ("Tongguan Wei Chronicles"). Before the liberation, whenever there was a long drought, the rural masses would come here to worship Buddha and pray for rain. Every year on the tenth day of the sixth lunar month, there is a temple fair on the Buddha's Head Cliff, and the incense guests and tourists are endless.
如今，佛头崖是潼关境内一处尚未开发的景观，有着自古以来形成的人行步道，冬日路基明显，即使盛夏也能拨草寻路前行。只是需要防范密林丛中的野蜂窝，说不定你会头撞或脚踩蜂者领地，给自己带来蜇伤疼痛。
Nowadays, the Buddha's Head Cliff is an undeveloped scenic spot within the territory of Tongguan, with a pedestrian trail formed since ancient times. The road base is obvious in winter, and even in the middle of summer, one can find the way by pulling the grass.
